How this is calculated
Cubic yards = (area in sq ft × depth in inches) ÷ 324 — one cubic yard covers 324 sq ft at a 1-inch depth. Bag counts assume standard 2 or 3 cubic-foot bags.
2–3 inches is the typical recommended depth for garden and landscape beds.
